When the duo moved to Image exclusively, the hits just kept coming. All the while, Brubaker would still team up with Phillips for gritty thriller miniseries such as Criminal and Incognito for Marvel's Icon line. Brubaker would go on to achieve mainstream comics stardom with fantastic runs on properties like Gotham Central and Captain America where he was responsible for bringing back Bucky Barnes as the Winter Soldier. Phillips would then serve as artist for Brubaker's gritty supervillain spy series Sleeper, which put the duo on the map as a team to be reckoned with. Their first collaboration was in 1999 when Phillips served as inker for Brubaker's Scene of the Crime with Michael Lark. The team of Brubaker and Phillips has been churning out hit after hit for more than two decades now.
